Photoshop has been around 20 years today and I dunno if there's another thing in the world I've used as much as Photoshop to make my friends smile (unless you count farts), so I wanted to say Happy Birthday with this drawing I colored with the graphics program. I love you hard, bro.

The Wild Things

Say what you will about the new movie from Spike Jonze (I can't wait to see it!), but when I was in Germany in the 3rd grade, my school went to see a "Where the Wild Things Are" opera/play in a small village and the impressive, homemade costumes scared the fuck out of me. In some yearbook on some shelf somewhere, there's a picture of me all freaked out in the audience and looking for my sister in some seat dozens of rows behind me. This is a drawing of the lead monster from the book.

Everybody knows the Blair Witch makes you stand in the corner if she catches you. This scene haunted me out of nowhere weeks after I saw the movie and I still get spooked when I walk into dark empty rooms.

Killing When Killing Wasn't Cool

When it comes to creepy comics, Al Columbia isn't only a member - he's the president. And in Fantagraphic's Zero Zero #4, Columbia produced a short story called "I Was Killing When Killing Wasn't Cool" that is so startling and nightmarish in its quiet elegance that it'll stick with you forever. I don't wanna give anything away, but that bastard I drew above was partially responsible for said startling nightmarishness. Columbia JUST released a new book, so GO FUCKING GET IT.

I Heart Tom Atkins

This hot shit right here has appeared in so many FUCKING COOL movies that I can't understand why I haven't seen more people with tattoos of him. You know I love him. Now please go and look at this list, then rent ANYthing from it during the month of October (I recommend this and this) and fall in love, too.

Martians Bring it All Back

BOO.

It's October, and you know what that means - sketches of shit I find startling provided at least once a day all month long! I mostly kept it up last year (that's right, our little sketch blog is over a year old), but I plan on staying on top all this month. I know I'm currently 5 days behind, but that just means I'll be posting some late additions over the next few days (DOUBLE THE FUN!).

Patrick Swayze will also be making a few appearances here and there because I owe about 11 of the drawings I've started in remembrance of him, but I didn't want to push the October fun too far back, so rest assured they'll appear over time. I got me some new pens, I rented some weirdo movies, and I'm pumped. Come back daily!
